Interested in joining the Minus Malaria Initiative? Here’s how you can do it.

Step 1: Contact a network coordinator to express your interest. One or more of the network coordinators will commit to helping you bring MMI to your campus.

Step 2: Organize a group of students. Use the Group Building toolkit to help you get started.

Step 3: Educate yourselves about malaria. Become experts on the issue you’re fighting for. Use the Malaria Education toolkit as a starting point.

Step 4: Organize a Minus Malaria campaign to raise awareness about malaria and raise money for bednets. Think about expanding your campaign to the community surrounding your campus. Take a look at the toolkits page for useful information and materials to help you build your campaign. You can also look at the forums to hear about what others have done. Use the following, AgainstMalaria, fundraising website. Create a partner page linked to MMI using this link.

Step 5: Reflect and congratulate yourself on your hard work. Visit the forums to share your experiences with others.

Step 6: Think about where you want to go next—perhaps a bigger campaign, a huge event…the possibilities are endless. Most importantly, help us bring MMI to other schools by contacting schools around your area to get them involved. Now that you have experience, you can further help us win the fight against malaria by connecting other schools with MMI. The more student groups and colleges involved, the more voices there will be clamoring for an end to the malaria pandemic.
