TB Drug Management Coordinator Opportunity:

MSH is seeking candidates for an upcoming five-year program in Ethiopia that will provide a comprehensive package of TB interventions to provide: quality DOTS, strengthened referral linkages to the community, technical assistance to the regional health bureaus (RHB) and Health Zones to improve program management of TB and MDR-TB, TB/HIV collaboration, and Health System Strengthening (HSS) by assisting with District (Woreda) Based Planning, institution of infection control, improved drug supply management, and CB-DOTS implemented in rural and urban areas through the health extension program (HEP). Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience in Ethiopia. Position is subject to project award.
[OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:]
In close collaboration with the Project Director, the TB Drug Management Coordinator’s responsibilities will include overall strategic planning, coordination, and technical direction of drug management activities for the project to ensure drug logistics management systems at regional levels pinpoint and address identified root causes of systems failures. S/he will work closely with the Senior TB and Laboratory Experts, as well as with the M & E Officer, to ensure progress is being achieved towards ensuring quality drug management services and overall project goals.S/he will be expected to maintain MSH’s professional and procurement integrity standards in all activities.
[SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:]
1. Train and mentor pharmacists and other relevant health workers on quantification and ordering of anti-TB drugs and TB Laboratory supply management.
2. Pilot the use of Patient Kits in selected districts as requested.
3. Coordinate with regional, zonal, and district level partners on drug supply management.
4. Assist RHBs in the implementation of planned need assessments regarding forecasting and capacity building.
5. Support the design and implementation of TB drugs LMIS tools, operational guidelines, manuals and procedures.
6. Deliver trainings, as required, including on the job training (OTJ), training of trainers (TOT) and pilots.
7. Coordinate with regional, zonal, and district stakeholders and other partners on anti-TB drugs (first and second lines) and laboratory supplies management activities.
8. Provide technical support to regional, zonal, and district partners in proposal development and planning as required.
9. Provide support to regional, zonal, and district partners in trouble-shooting for anti-TB drugs supply management, including SOP’s.
10. Produce routine and ad-hoc reports as required and support the production of regional, zonal, and district partner reports, as requested.
11. Support PFSA’s collaboration with SCMS, SPS and other international partners on an ongoing basis; this with regard to anti-TB drugs quantification, procurement planning, distribution and associated issues.
12. Support regional, zonal, and district partners in addressing and resolving TB drug regulatory issues.
13. Coordinate programmatic M & E activities.
14. Represent MSH on regional and national TB, TB/HIV and MDR/XRD TB working groups and at selected international meetings.
15. Perform other duties as required.[QUALIFICATIONS:]
1. Professional Degree in pharmacy or related discipline.
2. Significant work experience (8+ years) in pharmaceutical/public health management with relevant experience in pharmaceutical management and training for TB.
3. Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of Ethiopia’s public health and pharmaceutical sector and long-term work experience in Ethiopia preferred.
4. Strong organizational skills and ability to work flexibly in a team-oriented, culturally diverse environment.
5. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently.
6. Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and communications skills.
7. Demonstrated computer skills; knowledge of appropriate methods for data analysis and reporting.
8. Fluency in written and spoken English; fluency in Amharic, a plus.
