    [Overall Responsibilities]:

    Management Sciences for Health (MSH) saves lives and improves health, especially among the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.     MSH seeks a Communications Advisor for the anticipated SIDHAS project. The goals of this project are to 1-provide quality HIV/AIDS services throughout Nigeria (including anti-retroviral treatments) and 2-expand the capacity of the public and private sectors to sustain these services, enhancing the quality of services at national, state, and local levels and demonstrating increased leveraging of funding from the Government of Nigeria as well as other sources. This project will include a component to develop benchmarks to monitor and evaluate this expanded capacity of the health system to coordinate, support, deliver, and monitor quality HIV/AIDS care, treatment, and laboratory services.

    *This position is contingent upon project award and funding. The length of this project is expected to be five years.*

    [Specific Responsibilities]:

    1. Capture, synthesize, and share information that will create a compelling message to support and promote the SIDHAS (Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV/AIDS Services) Project awareness. This may include fact sheets, success stories, publications, press releases, press briefings, op-ed articles, letters to the editor, etc.

    2. Actively participate in defining the project mission, vision and identity as well as the strategy to achieve project objectives.

    3. Provide day-to-day management and coordination of communication activities. Prepare communication strategies and activities to support meetings and other special events

    4. Assist with the development of initiatives to enlist the support of the private sector to advance the project’s mission.

    5. Write and edit reports to USAID. Liaise with MSH home office on final report preparation and submission. Perform other duties as assigned.

    6. As needed, develop communications strategy to support social mobilization activities. Develop specific communications products (print, mass media, other) to support communications strategy.

    7. Oversee placement of communications products in relevant media sources.

    8. Provide writing, training and production support for documentation to support and train MSH staff on various knowledge exchange tools.

    [Qualifications]:

    1. Master’s degree or equivalent professional work experience in communications marketing, or journalism.
    2. Minimum of 6 years experience in a similar communications role, preferably on a USG-funded project. Excellent demonstrated writing and editing skills. Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
    3. Experience in development/ health preferred, knowledge of programs, strategies, donors and organizations.
    4. Demonstrated competence to assess priorities and manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
    5. Understanding of knowledge management and experience adopting, adapting, and applying knowledge to communicate more effectively.
    6. In-depth appreciation of IT and its utilization.
    7. Fundamental understanding of information content and associated issues. Experience in evaluating and conducting operations research around the impact of knowledge uptake.
    8. Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
    9. Fluency in English required.
