What is a root canal and how is it performed on the front tooth?

   Hello all,
   I just chipped my tooth today and my mom says I'll probably need a root canal. What is a root canal and how is it performed. I also heard that it hurts much worse getting the procedure done on your front teeth rather than the others. Is this true? Please I need to know, I'm going to the dentist tomorrow! Also want some info about best miami root canal surgeon.
