Does a root canal hurt and how long does it take to heal?

    I'm having my first root canal in about two hours from now and I am extremely nervous! My dentist told me at a previous appointment that I should be fine because the tooth isn't causing me any pain or sensitivity to start with. However, everyone I have talked to has given me nothing but horror stories when it comes to the whole root canal procedure. Should I be alarmed or do I have nothing to worry about? Also want some information about Miami root canal surgeons. Thanks for your help!
