Sugar is simply calories that contain no protein, no vitamin and no mineral. But it is good to avoid refined sugar. It is because when you eat refined sugar, the body takes nutrients from other cells in order to metabolize as it lack this property. So vital things like magnesium, vitamins, minerals and potassium are used up when refined sugar is ingested.
