For Students
The Minus Malaria Initiative (MMI) aims to eradicate the burden of malaria around the world by creating a network of student groups that raise awareness and educate about malaria and fundraise for insecticide-treated bednets in their respective communities. The purpose of this is two-fold: 1) to begin addressing the malaria burden right now, and 2) to increase the pressure from ordinary citizens on governments, individuals, and international organizations to stop malaria, a socially and economically devastating illness that should have long been controlled.
On this page you’ll find guides with tips, checklists, photo displays, and ideas for various activities MMI groups engage in—everything from starting a group to reaching out to the surrounding community. There’s something for every group here, whether you’re just starting out or have a lot of experience with advocacy and education activities.
SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES AND INSIGHTS
The partnerships created through MMI have the potential to spread such intense awareness about malaria that we can eradicate the pandemic. Harnessing this potential requires that all groups share their experiences with each other, so that we can all learn from each other and build on each others’ insights to build stronger more effective campaigns across the country. To this end, the forums hosted at this link (above) serve to provide a medium through which to share your experiences and insights. Click on the links below to access the individual forums.
